Cultural Impact of the Festival
In just a few editions, Nuestra has established itself as a key platform for local playwriting, fostering new voices and innovative stage productions. During its first three editions, the festival selected and co-produced 30 original works (10 per year) by both emerging and established playwrights from across Uruguay. Several of these productions have gained recognition beyond the festival, enriching the national theater scene and sparking conversations about Uruguay’s cultural and social landscape. The initiative has received significant media coverage, further highlighting its relevance—press outlets have praised Nuestra for "amplifying new voices and new ways of doing things" to "enhance the country's cultural landscape." With free admission in recent editions, the festival has attracted a large and diverse audience, demonstrating a strong public interest in seeing local stories brought to life on stage.
